Thanksgiving...it's meaning

Hugh Hewitt read and posted the following on his show today. Something all you God-o-phoebs out there probably don't want to read.

General Thanksgiving
By the PRESIDENT of the United States Of America
A PROCLAMATION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed;-- for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish Constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted;-- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge;-- and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions;-- to enable us all, whether in publick or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us); and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New-York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.

(signed) G. Washington

Yet Another Argument for Homeschooling

My wife and I will be home-schooling our kids. We made this decision some time ago. However, articles like this sure reinforce that decision.

It is my prayer that a generation of homeschoolers who have been taught the actual "non-politically correct" history of our country will turn this "barge" of a nation around. Because right now it is slowly heading toward the cliff of every other great civilization that has ever existed. This story of political correctness just adds to the obvious "Godaphoeb" nuttiness.

They're Evil Stupid

This article referenced by Dennis Prager yesterday gives a realistic view of what we are fighting in Iraq. Please note that the article appears in a liberal periodical.

Kevin Sites is an idiot who is aiding the enemy, pure and simple. Embedded reporters should be removed from the field. Its a bad idea. For those who don't know, Mr. Sites is the pinhead who released the video of the Marine shooting a terrorist (wounded or otherwise) during the clearing of an area in Falluja. That video is now being run on Al Jazeera every half hour in the usual manner of propaganda (of course they are not running the video of the execution of Margaret Hasan ).

The best response to this situation that I have found is from Froggy Ruminations. He hits it on the head!

Kerry Apologetics

OK. Now the Boston Globe is running this story about how Kerry's message was "muddied". It's all the fault of one answer to one question that was missunderstood by Kerry because of his hearing problems (caused of course by his Vietnam service.....and probably, in my opinion, by blowing up something too close to himself rather than enemy fire), the wind (and Act of God?) and the pollen in the wind (another Act of God?). Hey, I see a pattern, maybe God did pick sides.

As long as Democratic operatives and leaders keep looking elsewhere for blame of their loss instead of at there way left Michael Moore embracing message, they will continue loosing.

...and that's a good thing. Look for Hillary becoming a religious moderate over the next four years.

Now Peace may have a chance

Jeff Jacoby of the Boston Globe says it best.

Perhaps sanity can now prevail in Israel. Arafat will be remembered, in the long run, for doing nothing nobel.

So Much for Inclusiveness

What are they afraid of?

Another rhetorical question....let me answer it. They are afraid that their religion of secular athiesm (which counts on the swallowing whole of evolution theory) will be seen for the foolishness it is when compared to other scientific theories of origins. Yes, like creationism.

Give Thanks!

Thank you Lord for the re-election of a good man. A man who knows You. Thank you for the grace that you have bestowed upon a country that has been turning it's back on you.

I pray that we as a country will take this gift and use it wisely, and I pray that those elements of our society that have been repudiated by the results of this election will open their eyes.

Amen

The Democratic "Projection" theory

You can be assured that whenever anyone in the current Democratic leadership accuses the Republicans of doing something bad, that they (the Democrats) are in fact doing something bad.

Current case in point, this from an AP story by Pete Yost:

"For the Kerry campaign to say that this poll is not their own is laughable when Tad Devine and Joe Lockhart are the ones presenting the results," Cheney campaign spokeswoman Anne Womack said as the vice president arrived in New Mexico for a campaign appearance.

Kerry campaign spokesman Phil Singer said, "For the Bush campaign to continue making this charge when they know it's not true is laughable."

You mean kind of like all last week when John Kerry was continuing to regurgitate the "missing" explosives story after it was thoroughly debunked?

The facts are there for anyone who is willing to open their eyes and see. But if you have that irrational hatred for George W. Bush, then you will continue to "project" the sins of your party onto the Republicans. So be it.
